W E L C O M E – C H A N G E

Have you ever heard someone say “welcome” to change? I haven’t. In fact change is something that used to be my worst nightmare until I experienced it, and God faithfully altered my view of change. But that’s another story for another time.

I find it ironic that autumn is my favorite season, while I used to hate change. After all, autumn is basically the season when the most things change. Leaves fall, grass dies, chilly weather rolls in, school starts. Life shifts gears. Change is natural. It’s something God created beautifully. We should embrace it.

Some might say they wish summertime would last forever. I completely understand this. I’d thoroughly enjoy the school-less, beach-filled, relaxing, sunny season for days and days. But I would get tired of it eventually. I would probably get sunburn on top of my sunburn, feel extremely bored, and tell the Texas sun to stop frying me.

I would wish for the autumn to come and bring the orderly life, chilly air, cozy socks & blankets, piles of leaves, and campfire nights. I would wish for change.

 

It’s the same in our lives.

God is looking at our lives just as we look at the seasons.

God can see the future of our lives, just as we know winter will follow autumn.

We know that summer must change to autumn and autumn must change to winter in order for nature to grow and blossom again.

God knows that we must go through certain seasons in our lives in order to grow closer to Him and blossom in our faith.

Change doesn’t take God by surprise. He is in control of nature, and our lives. In fact, He is the one person who will never change.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. {James 1:17}

If you are fighting the change in your life, remember that God has a purpose for your life. He knows what He’s doing, and hopefully you will look back and be grateful for the change He’s allowing.

Maybe you will even welcome future change. 🙂

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. {Ecclesiastes 3:2-8}
